An emotional biblical drama film, starring Rooney Mara as Mary Magdalene and Joaquin Phoenix as Jesus Christ. The story is an attempt of the Director Garth Davis to create a different, feminist portrait of this historically controversial character, as well as to show the Son of God from another perspective. Mary lives a simple life until Jesus of Nazareth comes into her life. “In the silence, is there something calling? Do you have the courage to follow what you hear?” he asks her. Without hesitation, Mary Magdalene embraces this opportunity as if this is exactly what she was waiting for her entire life.
