Inspirational teacher films like the “Dead Poets Society” do not appear very often on the big screen. In “Le Brio”, we see the veteran Daniel Auteuil as Professor Pierre Mazard, who delivers lectures at the prestigious and conservative Université Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas. He has an encounter with the Arab law student Neila, during which the professor makes a racist comment that is recorded by the audience and goes viral. In order to save his reputation and place at the University, Prof. Mazard has to overcome his ego and prepare the stubborn girl for the annual rhetoric competition, where students have the opportunity to plead on a variety of subjects, demonstrating eloquence and imagination.
