After surviving a violent attack by a group of vicious men, Mark Hogancamp (Steve Carell) loses his memory. Although everyone thinks there’s no hope for him, Mark manages to resurrect from the ruins of his life, of his mind. What he does is to create Marwen, a miniature World War II village, where he can be a hero, where he can do whatever he wants. This marvelous place is located in his yard and becomes a sanctuary for the damaged man. On the way to his recovery, there are six women who support Mark and follow him in his adventures. In this fantasy world, he finds healing, peace and, ultimately, a triumph. And yes, this story has happened to someone for real.
