Franklin, Clara Ward. Two more cameos - of Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts as visitors in the audience, complete the scene. The album has been recorded at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles. Aretha Franklin is accompanied by the Southern California Community Choir, directed by Alexander Hamilton. About the value of the film, here is a review of Odie Henderson who states, "Whether you're religious or not, you owe it to yourself to see this movie if the chance arises. Critics are crazy about ’Amazing Grace’

" Aretha Franklin is a huge star, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that a concert movie about her album ‘Amazing Grace’ would become a success. The footage has been in stock for over 40 years and a lot has happened technologically since then. However, it is exactly these leaps in technology which make sure that we can really feel the excitement. Soundvenue writes: “The movie documentation of Aretha Franklin’s gospel is filled with presence and excitement, so you feel deeply included and swept away. Regarless if you’re a fan of the genre or not.”, while Politiken agrees and writes: “Aretha Franklin’s terrific gospel album ‘Amazing Grace’ was half way forgotten, but here are one of great moments of gospel captured on film, so all you can do is swing along.”.
