A romantic drama film which is based on the novel of the same name written by E. M. Forster and published in 1910. This is a story of class divisions and social relations that is set at the very begging of 20th century. A meaningful life event interweaves love, doubts, duty among three English families. Wilcoxes are the aristocratic (and arrogant) ones, Schlegels are kind and sensitive, and the Basts belong to the lower-middle class. The apple of discord appears to be an inheritance. Margaret Schlegel learns the extraordinary news that before passing away her wealthy friend Ruth Wilcox has decided to make her a wonderful but truly surprising gift. Miss Schlegel becomes the newest mistress of Howard’s End, which is part of the Wilcox estate. While the upper-class relatives of Mrs. Wilcox are angry with this decision, Margaret finds a husband.
