London in 1954, Reynolds Woodcock (Day-Lewis) is a renowned couturier who is enchanted by the beauty of Alma - a young waitress who easily becomes his muse, assistant and most of all - his lover. However, pretty Alma is not so pretty by nature, as she has dark intentions related to the talented perfectionist. After trying to poison him, he manages to survive, Alma takes care of him and Reynolds proposes her to get married. After all, could the situation become any worse?
