Martin Scorsese said that this Italian drama is: “A beautiful and moving picture”. It tells the story of the teenager Pio Amato who lives in A Ciambra, a small Romani community in Calabria region. He admires his older brother Cosimo very much, trying to desperately grow fast, thinking that what it means to be an adult is to smoke, to drink, to be part of a gang. While sliding between the most powerful fractions in the region is something that Pio does smoothly, his world turns upside down when Cosimo disappears. Pio has learnt how to survive on the street and is eager to prove that he is as good as his big brother. However, Pio soon finds out that he is just a boy and if he wants to become a man, he must take unimaginable decision.
