Raising a teenager has never been easy, or will be, but what happens in this criminal drama is too much a parent could handle. The fact that there is a true story as a basis for this film makes the things even worse. Richard Wershe Jr. is only 14 when he becomes the youngest FBI informant to work undercover in the shiny but brutal world of drug dealing. The ‘arena’ of his work is Detroit in the 1980s, during the peak of the War on Drugs. What is heart-breaking here is that the poor boy gets abandoned by his FBI ‘colleagues’ at some point. The inconsolable father, Richard Wershe, can do nothing to save the teenager. Sent to prison for the rest of his life, Rick learns a painful truth about people - sometimes you get betrayed by those from whom you expect it the least.
