EditOur New President (2018)

Directed by Maxim Pozdorovkin (“Bolshoi Babylon”, “The Notorious Mr. Bout”, “Pussy Riot - A Punk Prayer”) this is a satirical portrait of the current US President Donald Trump and the story of his election in 2016. What is special about this film is that it is based entirely on Russian propaganda. The documentary reveals the politics of broadcasting fake news and the successful tactics, used in the information wars that take place in the modern culture and civilization. It shows how applying specific video techniques creates “authentic” clips in which people, sadly, believe. Very funny at places, “Our New President” is also depressing and even scary. During the 77 minutes in which it runs, we become witnesses of how fake-news culture turns into escalating global phenomenon, that affects not only Russia and Europe, but also the United States.
