Black Widow

Being the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), “Black Widow” is an action-packed triller. It follows Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) in her spy missions after the events of “Captain America: Civil War” (2016) and before “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018). Here, Natasha is alone in her quests and at the same time needs to deal with ghosts from her early years. That forces her to start fighting against a dangerous conspiracy that threatens her future, as its roots are in the girl’s past. Before joining the superhero group of Avengers and becoming the Black Widow, Romanoff has to clear her history as a skilful spy and let go a broken relationship that keeps her awake at nights. Indeed, we are the choices we make.

Why we love superhero movies

" The hype around superhero’s have existed for quite some time. It can actually be traced all the way back to 1998, where ‘Blade’ became one of the first superhero movies made for adults and taken seriously. Hereafter, we saw how the X-Men movies trough out the 2000’s made superpowers and superhumans standard elements on the big screen. Soon the big studios began to see the potential in the heroic stories, who were actually very similar to the westers of the past. Besides the sharp division between good and evil added a good amount of action, the superhero movies also gives us something to look up to. That’s why we also see the superheroes become more relatable. We’re supposed to be able to see our own struggles and successes in them, if we can’t, they become uninteresting as characters. "

Black Widow is done running

" Black Widow has always been one of the more secretive and mysterious characters in the Anvergers series. That’s why it’s only fitting that she gets her own movie. The second trailer has just come out, and it gives us an insight into what’s at stake. Black Widow has to face her past instead of running, to safe others from the destiny that she herself has had to live with. The movie looks like a good mixture of action and humor plus a bunch of new interesting characters. The movie is planned to premiere in Danish cinemas on the 29th of April. "

3 women at the center of new ‘Black Widow’ movie

" The first real trailer for ‘Black Widow’ landed a few weeks ago and there is enough to talk about. First of all, it’s revealed where in the Avengers timeline the movie will be, which is between ’Captain America: Civil War’ and ’Avengers: Infinity War’. Secondly, we get to see more of the cast and it looks good. Florence Pugh, who has previously starred in ‘Midsommar’ plays the role as Yelena Belova, while Rachel Weisz who had success with ‘The Favorite’, will be playing Melina Vostokoff. Weisz herself has said that: "There's three really beautifully written complicated female narratives, which is very unusual in a superhero movie". ‘Black Widow’ is directed by Cate Shortland and will premiere in Danish cinemas on the 29th of April.
