Too often true stories amaze us with facts that make a normal person shake head with disbelief. How is it possible in our modern times, in a civilised country, something similar to happen? Robert Bilott (Mark Ruffalo) is a corporate defence attorney who gets involved in an unusual case. He is approached by an old farmer who has lost more than 100 cows and who needs some answers. Although Mr. Bilott usually works in favour of the big companies, this time he realises that the health and the lives of innocent people are being sacrificed in the name of the profit. The villain is a big and strong chemical manufacturer who pollutes drinking water and whose production causes ecological catastrophe in the affected region. Bilott is on a crossroad - to leave behind his successful career and put his family at risk or to do what is right.
