Ben Affleck is Jack Cunningham, an alcoholic construction worker for whom the days of sports glory seem to be gone. A former basketball superstar with great talent and bright future, today Jack is a lonely man, separated from his wife. He drowns his guilt and regrets, his disappointment from life in litters of alcohol, without seeing the end of this rocky road. Luckily, a surprising proposal promises to take Jack out of his miserable living and give him a second chance. A chance to help a group of boys who love to play basketball, believe in themselves and find their way to success. When he learns that the previous coach has received a heart attack, Jack decides to accept the offer and start coaching the team of his alma matter. Without much belief in his own abilities, without much hope for a better life, Jack has to find strength and raise not only himself, but also the boys who trust him.
