Inspired by a true story, by a genuine friendship, this drama film features Tony Lip (Viggo Mortensen), an Italian-American from Bronx, who accepts an unusual job offer. Being a white man, he will have to accompany as a driver and, occasionally, as a bodyguard, the distinguished Black piano virtuoso Dr. Don Shirley, on a concert tour. During their extraordinary but also dangerous journey from Manhattan to the heart of the American South, the two man, so different in manners and understanding of life, will discover a soul mate in each other. You my not expect to find humor in this story about racism but you will be nicely surprised. “The Green Book" is a guide to places in America where it is safe for African-Americans to stay or to dine in. If you’re looking for something to restore your faith in humanity, this is your film.
