Based on a true story, this psychological thriller follows the development of one of Denmark’s most mysterious criminal cases. Detective Anders Olsen is working on an uncommon investigation that appears related to manipulation, leading to murder. Olsen holds the theory that someone used hypnosis to make the accused Palle Hardrup commit a robbery and kill two people. The reason is that Hardrup makes such unemotional confession for his actions, showing that he is psychologically separated from his crime. Police start working on clues that lead to Bjørn Schouw Nielsen, his close friend in jail. The young detective becomes obsessed on proving the guilt of Nielsen for manipulating the robber, which leads to a nervy cat-and-mouse game between Olsen and Nielsen. The situation aggravates when the cunning hypnotist contacts Marie, the investigator’s wife.
