Ever heard of the “Stockholm Syndrome”? Ever having suffered from it? Sorry, couldn’t resist to joke… But, yes, this is it - the story of that absurd 1973 hostage crisis in a central Stockholm bank, well documented in “The New Yorker” article "The Bank Drama" by Daniel Langand an year later. This is the case from which the world-known psychological phenomenon originated. Ethan Hawke is Lars Nystrom who tries to raid a bank and then takes hostages to make authorities let go his friend Gunner out of prison. One of these hostages is Bianca, married wife and mother of two children. She develops an abnormal relationship with her captor, who, while not threatening people, tries to make them feel comfortable (under these circumstances). The crisis gets worse and what could have happened for few hours now takes days. As the situation develops, so is the relationship between Lars and Bianca.
