A heart-touching drama film of the childhood. We see how the six-year-old Moonee and her ragtag group of friends experience the world during the summer break. At the same time, the adults around them have a hard time, struggling with various problems. Being rather mischievous, the children meet Bobby Hicks (Willem Dafoe), Manager of the Magic Castle at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, who takes their misbehavior seriously. Hicks, however, also feels protective of them and tries to teach Halley, Moonee’s prostituting mother, how to be a responsible parent. After the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) arrives to investigate Halley, they decide to take Moonee into foster care pending investigation. Scared, the little girl runs away.
