90% of the people in Burma are Buddhist. This is a religion that is based on tolerance, on unconditional love and respect to every living creature. One of the nation’s most influential people is the Buddhist monk Ashin Wirathu, self-appointed head of “969”, an anti-Muslim movement operating in Myanmar. This documentary is a portrait of the controversial leader, also known as “The Venerable W”. It also reveals the destructive power of the religious tension that has turned Muslims and Buddhists against each other. The Burmese authorities try to take control on the situation by banning “969” and sending Wirathu in prison for few years. However, after his release, Wirathu forms a new, similar group and continues his previous activity.
