" The Macedonian film 'God exists, her name is Petrunya' speaks into contemporary conversations about discrimination against women. It is about Petrunya, who despite a good education still lives at home with her parents and is out of work. One day on her way home from another discouraging job interview, she decides to take part in an annual competition in which a number of men fight to catch a wooden cross in a river, and reportedly will gain success and luck. But when Petrunya catches the cross, she is not greeted with honor and glory, but rather mockery and anger, for can she participate at all as a woman? ‘God exists, her name is Petrunya’ will have its Danish cinema premiere on November 12.
